The Pilgrimage of Hope is founded on the life and work of Mother Teresa and this is the inspiration behind the program.
Mother Teresa remains the inspiration behind the Pilgrimage of Hope. Some years ago Fr James was deeply moved by Mother Teresa's open invitation to come to Kolkata to serve alongside the Missionaries of Charity Sisters in their ministry to the marginalised people of Kolkata. Mother Teresa's life and deep spirituality inspired Fr James to begin the Pilgrimage of Hope which has now been in operation for 12 years. Mother Teresa once said to the Times Magazine Reporter: "Before, people were speaking about the poor, but now, more and more people are speaking to the poor. That is the great difference". This is the inspiration behind the Pilgrimage of Hope.
